Utah State Capitol Family Pictures | Salt Lake Photographer
During our trip to Utah to spend Christmas with family, I was lucky enough to take family pictures for my friend Tedi and her cute family! We met up at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City just a few hours after my flight landed. We got so lucky with the weather, because it had been so freezing cold in Utah that week, but on the day of the shoot, even though it was cold it wasn’t insanely frigid! And the shoot was just a day or two before a big snowstorm as well. I hadn’t been to the Utah State Capitol building since touring it as a fifth grader, but I can see why it’s such a popular place for a Salt Lake photographer to shoot at! All the marble columns and balconies outside the building are gorgeous, and there are beautiful views of the mountains and city in the distance.
Tedi and I first connected while we were both stuck in the waiting years of infertility. Each of us were blogging about our infertility journeys, trying to raise awareness, build community and connect with other women who understood our feelings. (Click here to visit Tedi’s blog: Running with Infertility) We became friends even though we had never met in person, just got to know each other through our blogs & social media. She and her husband had a long, difficult journey through infertility, and I was so thrilled for her when she announced that they were miraculously pregnant with their baby boy! I became pregnant with my baby girl shortly after, and Tedi and I got to meet in person for the first time while we were both pregnant with our miracle babes. She and Chase came to our city for some work they were doing with their nonprofit foundation, Hope for Fertility, which provides grants to couples going through infertility, and it was so awesome to meet them and learn more about their foundation.
Over a year and a half later, it was such a treat to see Tedi and her sweet family again, and meet her cute son K in person! I loved reconnecting with them and had such a great time capturing their family pictures! These are some of my favorite shots from their session, but it was so hard to narrow down which ones to share on the blog because they are the most adorable family!
