I’ve mentioned this on Instagram, but for if you don’t follow along there, you may be surprised to hear that at the moment, I’m a Utah product photographer! Haha. Long story short, a quick trip I made with my daughter to visit family in Utah right before the COVID-19 situation escalated has turned into a few months long stay in my Northern Utah hometown. When we found out the country was going into quarantine and my husband would be working remotely for the foreseeable future, he drove up and joined us and I had him bring up my camera gear, lighting equipment and background surfaces so that I can still do product shoots from my temporary location in Logan, Utah. Recently I had the opportunity to shoot some food products for one of my favorite local restaurants in Cache Valley, Sweetly Divine.
Sweetly Divine is a restaurant in Logan that sells amazing pastries, gyro sandwiches, soups and much more. Not only do they serve incredible food, but the chef has created some amazing jalapeno jellies and delicious strawberry jam that he sells in his store as well as on Amazon. I shot some new product photos on white for Sweetly Divine’s Amazon listings as well as photos of the products styled with other foods. I really enjoyed taking photos of these yummy jellies and being able to do a little something to help a small family-owned local business during my time being quarantined here in Logan, Utah. And a bonus of shooting these products while I’m quarantined with my family in Logan is that I had some hand models readily available to help me out with styling some of these photos! Instead of setting up my camera on a tripod and using self-timer mode while running back and forth myself to spread strawberry jam on a slice of my mom’s warm homemade bread or dip a cracker in the jalapeno jelly, I recruited my younger brother and sister to be my hand models. I love including human hands in product photos when possible, it really brings the images to life a little bit more, and in this case, gives the viewer a clear visual of how the food is meant to be enjoyed. I loved shooting these products for Sweetly Divine and I hope you’ll check out their products on their website and Amazon. And if you’re ever in Logan Utah, make sure to stop by Sweetly Divine for the yummiest food in town!
