Glendale Photographer | Phoenix LDS Temple Family Pictures
I’m so excited to finally blog these dreamy family pictures! Although I delivered the edited images to the family a few days after the session as per usual, blogging got put on the back burner because we moved to a bigger apartment the following week! But we’re mostly settled in to our new place, so I’m finally starting to get around to tasks like blogging again!
My friend Adrea contacted me awhile ago about taking her family pictures again this year, (click right here to see her family’s photos from last year) and she had a special reason in mind. Her 10th wedding anniversary was coming up, and she wanted to commemorate that milestone with family portraits that would capture this stage of her family’s life, 10 years after it officially began. Adrea and I grew up in the same neighborhood and funny enough, I actually found her wedding invitation from 10 years ago in a box of old papers I was going through before moving, just days before the photo session! Haha. Marie Kondo would be appalled at the amount of semi-sentimental photos and papers I have kept over the years that I’m finally trying to sort and let go of!
Adrea and Bentley were married and sealed in an LDS temple, and temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hold great meaning and sacredness to those of us who are members of the church, so Adrea wanted these 10 year anniversary photos to be taken at the LDS temple they currently live closest to, the Phoenix Temple in Glendale.
Sickness and bad weather postponed the session from when we had originally planned, but when I arrived at the temple I felt it was meant to be, because the day could not have been more perfect!! It was right during the peak of the spring wildflower season here in AZ, before the scorching heat came along which is why there were so many gorgeous flowers all in full bloom on the grounds of the Phoenix LDS Temple in Glendale, and the light was so pretty as Adrea’s family arrived. It was so fun to see how much her adorable kids had grown since last year! Adrea’s dad was in town at the time so he came along to the photo session and was such a great help with getting his cute grandkids’ attention for the camera, we made sure to get some pictures with Grandpa too!
Can we talk about the fact that these guys knocked it out of the park in the style department?? I am in love with the outfits!! The girls’ sequin and tulle dresses were gorgeous and the guys’ outfits were so classy and coordinated so well too. I love that in some of these photos when the sun was setting, even the pinkish sky was reflecting those rose gold tones too!
I absolutely loved capturing these photos for Adrea and her family, and it was so fun to get to see them and just catch up on life with them as well! I hope you enjoy seeing some of my favorite images from their family portrait session!
Choosing favorite images to post from this family session was really hard but this shot is for sure one of my top faves! It isn’t easy to get toddlers to hold still and smile for pictures, and trust me I totally understand having one of my own, so I often use the “everyone tickle the toddler” trick and I love the joyful photos that result from it!
Over on my Instagram page, I shared in my Photography Tips & Tricks story about how I used a little Photoshop magic to create the above right image, a wide shot with the family standing in front of the temple and no photobombers in the background. If you watch that story highlight you can see exactly what I did to erase the people that were originally in the background of the photo. While you’re there, be sure to give my Instagram page a follow if you haven’t had the chance!
