Arizona Product Photographer | Local Handmade Jewelry
This lifestyle product shoot epitomizes everything I love about being an Arizona product photographer! So many great elements came together to make this brand photography session one to be remembered. Intricate handmade jewelry from the one and only Pure Life Jewelry, a stunning model with great style, that gorgeous bright Arizona sunlight, all against the beautiful background of the desert. The purpose of this shoot was to capture Pure Life Jewelry’s Goddess collection, a celebration of the inner divinity, beauty, and power of women. That theme is something I’m really passionate about and I feel honored to have been a part of capturing this line of jewelry that Jenny (founder and owner of Pure Life) designed with such an empowering message at heart of it all.
Another reason I think this particular shoot will always stand out in my mind as a favorite for me is because this is the first time I tried photographing a person with my 100mm macro lens and was blown away by the results. I’m writing this blog several months later, but at the time I had bought my 100mm lens maybe two months or so before this shoot, and up to that point, I had used it for shooting products a little bit, but for some reason I had it in my head that since this was a macro lens, I was just “supposed” to use it for close up photos of still objects, and that it wouldn’t work as well for shooting a moving subject. On the day of this shoot I planned to switch between my 100mm macro lens for the close up shots of the jewelry on the model, and my 50mm lens for pulled back shots that showed more of the model’s body in the frame. But as we started the shoot, we had a few delays, and I realized switching lenses would eat up too much time. So I decided to go all in and use the 100mm lens the whole time. And oh boy, am I glad I did! Using the 100mm for both close-ups of the product and pulled back shots of the model worked out really seamlessly, and when I was editing I was blown away by the 100mm’s tack sharpness, gorgeous compression, and the beautiful way it captures bright sunlight–these photos were shot earlier in the afternoon than I typically shoot, but the light still looks so dreamy thanks to the 100mm!
